Pre-Loved Nihola 4.0 electric-assist

The lovely family who orginally bought this very practical trike in September 2022 clocked up 3712 km, and their kids have now outgrown it! They did a trade-in with us for a totally different (and wonderful) bike, and it’s time to pass on this rarely-available large Nihola 4.0 electric model.

The Nihola models steer and ride in a very particular way, which some customers absolutely love. If you are curious to buy this one, we insist that you test ride it! It has a low centre of gravity and a large storage capacity for bags and so on. It is stable even at higher speeds, and many customers who are not convinced about the handling of 2-wheeled cargo bikes become very fond of their Nihola.

The purchase includes the black rain tent that goes over the box, plus a cargo bike cover for the whole bike. There are two bench seats included, with lap belts, and if you require more Y-belts (needed for kids aged two years or less) we can sell you new ones. However, please note our advice in the other section of this web page regarding the advice for lighter use for this latter part of the bike’s life! It also comes with TWO chargers, for convenience. (Perhaps one for home, one for work.)

There is an opportunity to purchase an additional rain tent for the box in a light blue colour, which is new (not used). Please discuss this with us when you come in for your test ride and we will show you it. The black rain tent has a few small holes and a missing bit of velcro associated with nearly 3.5 years of regular use.

The Promovec electric assist is very ‘nippy’, but even so, it’s not the best suited to *really* steep hills. It will do fine on regular inclines that are not too long or steep.

The bike, motor and battery come with a 3 month warranty from us. Yes, you can use a cycle to work voucher for this second-hand purchase!

We did some extensive work on the bike before agreeing to the trade-in. Rest assured that it is in the best condition it can be in, but for full disclosure, note that the work included:

• Repairs to the frame of the bike by Corten Steel Ltd, an excellent local welders. Part of the frame had started to crack and this is now repaired, with our confidence that this is a full repair with very low risk of a similar crack occuring in the same place, within appropriate use (not overloading the bike).
• Nihola specialist ball joints: all four of these, on the steering mechanism for the two front wheels, were replaced.
• Front wheel: one had a full set of bearings replaced. The other front wheel did not require this.
• Gear shifter cable and outer casing was replaced.
• Both front wheel disc pads were replaced on the hydraulic disc pads.
• The rear brake blocks were replaced (rim brakes).

The family are very loyal local customers who carefully ensured that we serviced the bike for them on a regular basis (approximately every 6 months) which helped them to keep a close eye on it and ensure that it was always in a safe condition.
